BASTARD APES

WTF?

You ever been high and think wow those BASTARD GAN PUNKS are cool as sh*t, I wish someone would do that to Bored Apes. Yeah, same.

I used Cutting Edge Machine Learning Techniques™ to make a computer dream up new apes.

Like the BGAN PUNKS there are special animated versions (777 available, example below) and certain images that were generated facing the opposite direction, these "LOOK RARE" and if you have one, you are important and should feel special.

I also told an AI to generate some Yacht Rock songs about apes and bastards for the descriptions.

HOW THE F*CK?

I wrote a script to automatically extract and isolate all the Bored Ape attributes (hats, clothes, eyes, etc). Took these and randomly generated a new set of apes with an evenly distributed set of traits for more varied results (thanks to BGAN PUNKS for the idea).

With this new data set I tried out several GAN implementations on beefy GPU enabled cloud machines with about 30+ different parameter combinations over the span of a month, failed quite a few times but eventually got something aesthetically pleasing.

BUT WHY?

As a BAYC member (#6377) who recently started a project at work that involves neural networks I thought this would be a fun experiment and a way to pay homage to two of my favorite NFT projects. Plus I like the apes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If this goes well I'll be trying out some other AI art projects focused around topics that I like and experimenting with some high concept NFT contract mechanics. This initial drop will allow first dibs, free claims and other perks with future projects. There is no official roadmap. In the immortal words of THE FUCKIN TROLLS - "no one knows where the fuck they're going" so let's just have some fun.
